Family owned and operated business 444 Gourmet Creations® was born from the Latin roots and family traditions of Jennifer and David Blanco.
When Jennifer and David were growing up, buñuelos were always an integral component at gatherings with friends and family for special occasions and holidays. With Jennifer’s family hailing from Mexico and Spain, and David’s family originating in Mexico, 444 Gourmet Creations is a blend of both cultures.
The buñuelo is a typical holiday dessert among Latin cultures, and it takes different forms in different parts of the world.
In Mexico, the buñuelo is traditionally a flat, tortilla-shaped dessert. In Spain, it is slightly doughy and spherically shaped.
At 444 Gourmet Creations, they have combined the Mexican and Spanish buñuelos and transformed the traditional fritter into an indulgently crunchy, yet light gourmet dessert.
They have also delicately shaped the buñuelo into a variety of forms. They are creating a limited edition Turkey-shaped buñuelo in November, and a buñuelo in the shape of a Christmas tree in December.
All of their artisan buñuelos are individually handmade. Each one is cooked to a golden perfection and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Throughout the process, they pay meticulous attention to every detail while using only the finest ingredients.
With plans for expansion and more innovation next year, 444 Gourmet Creations will offer an even greater variety of shaped buñuelos, with hopes to transform the buñuelo from a holiday treat to a year-round gourmet indulgence.
At 444 Gourmet Creations, they focus not only on delivering a delicious product, but on beautifully presenting it, as well. Thus, all buñuelos are lavishly gift-wrapped – perfect for a gift for your loved ones and colleagues, as a corporate gift or as a simple “just because.”
Look for Austin’s newest sweet treat next to Santa Claus at Barton Creek Square Mall throughout the months of November and December.
TIPS FOR ENJOYING YOUR BUÑUELOS
A versatile dessert, buñuelos can be eaten in a variety of ways. Although the buñuelo is delicious on its
own, Jennifer and David also say …
• Use different toppings. Our favorites are melted chocolate, baked apples, caramelized bananas, walnuts
and dulce de leche.
• Eat your buñuelo à la mode – as simple as adding a scoop of your favorite ice cream.
• Our personal favorite: à la mode and toppings such as vanilla bean ice cream, caramelized bananas
and walnuts.
