Treat yourself to a truly unique experience with Cirque du Soleil's “Dralion,” coming soon to American Bank Center

Cirque du Soleil is known for elaborate productions that transcend audiences into another world. "Dralion" is no exception.

East and West cultures intertwine as the elements of nature (air, earth, water, fire and the circle of life) take human form to display how harmony can be achieved, creating the sought-out balance between humans and nature.

"This is much more than just a show," said James Santos, artistic assistant for "Dralion." "It's an eclectic version of discipline with highly skilled acrobatics and gymnasts and an amazing soundtrack. It's truly a unique experience."

There are countless details that many may not even notice the first time they see "Dralion" because there are so many elements from the elaborate wardrobes to the skillful displays of what the human body is capable of through extreme flexibility and a focused mind.

"One's interpretation can be different depending on when they see the show," Santos said. "You won't notice all the details at once, and the show is constantly evolving with artistic concepts and artists. Someone who saw 'Dralion' last year in another different city will notice changes."

The name, "Dralion," is a merging of the dragon, representing the East, and the lion, representing the West. The tour itself is a melding of various cultures, with artists representing more than 16 countries.

"We celebrate different holidays while we are on the road such as Christmas, Chinese New Year and St. John the Baptist Day," Santos said. There are even language classes taught on tour in between performances.

Along with becoming more culturally diverse, performers practice Pilates and Tai Chi to find their own focused balance so they are able to convey the story onstage as precisely as possible.

"This is a chance to experience a couple of hours of free thought and leave with feelings of harmony, joy and peace," Santos said. "Everyone has different expectations of the show, so interpretations will be different, but there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy. Prepare to escape into a night of breathtaking suspenseful acrobatics and leave with a clear mind."
