Dracula

Corpus Christi Ballet will present “Dracula” on April 17th & April 18th at the Selena Auditorium in the American Bank Center. This enthralling and vivid adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Gothic masterpiece will be performed by over 100 local dancers, actors and guest artists to a gripping, spine-tingling score accompanied by howls of wolves. This ballet, an original work by Corpus Christi Ballet’s artistic director, Cristina Stirling Munro, has a set and costumes that are ingeniously complemented by eerie and supernatural effects.

This original ballet blends exciting dancing, acting and stunning special effects, which bring this popular story to life. The story will lead us from the streets of London to the mountains and a castle in Transylvania, back through a storm to a country mansion in England, and for the final act, to the Crypt. For the lovers of Twilight and vampire stories, this powerful ballet combines beauty and drama that will chill and thrill you at the same time.

This production will feature professional artist, Konstantin Kolotov, as the insatiable Count Dracula. Mr. Kolotov is from Russia, and has danced all over the world to great acclaim.

The roles of Mina and her friend Lucy will be danced by Elizabeth Hooper and Shannon Cruz, respectively. The Sirens will be Mia Carvalho, Samantha Dilbeck, Christi Kizerian, and Alexa Martin.

The hero, Jonathan Harker, will be played by Joey Cruz, and his friend Van Helsing will be danced by James Vargas.

Derek Turner will perform as the fierce werewolf who leads his pack of wolves. This ballet will also feature bats, vultures, night moths, gypsies and Dracula’s many brides.

Performances are set for Saturday, April 17th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be held at Selena Auditorium at the American Bank Center. Tickets range from $11.50 to $31.50, with discounts for students, military and seniors. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster outlets or the American Bank Center box office.
