Today, Urbano Builders primarily builds spec homes – the company acquires land and builds custom spec homes for prospective homeowners. The company focuses on single-family housing and light commercial properties. With success comes challenges, and Lori is the first to admit that it takes time, care, and a bit of research to uncover what each community wants. She explained that every city, including San Antonio has its own personality; it takes time to find out what the market is. Lori spends time researching what people are looking for in a home and works to implement those findings in each project. “Our homes are well-planned,” she explained. “There is no cutting corners in our designs. Lori speaks with passion about her job. Her enthusiasm about her profession drives her to be the best. “My job is wonderful,” she says. “My reward is watching a construction job from beginning to end. I love seeing happy families move into their new home. It’s a great feeling to see those things.” It easy to see how much she enjoys her work during conversation; she speaks with excitement when referring to the homebuilding industry.

Apart from her professional endeavors, Lori keeps a healthy balance between her business and personal world. One of her biggest passions is surprisingly, flying. Lori takes to the sky as often as she can in an effort to relax and take life in. “I love flying,” Lori says with glee. “I love flying through the clouds. I am actually trying to get my private license to fly. ”

Lori also unwinds by spending time with family, friends and her three dogs. Maintaining a positive outlook on work and play helps her stay grounded, especially in a profession that can be hectic. One of the biggest recommendations she has for any prospective homebuilder is to learn all aspects of the business from finance to design. “That is the key to becoming successful in the homebuilding business.”
