The Network Specialist
She is the human version of ‘411.’ Pick up the phone, dial her number and if she does not have the answer you need then she will figure out where to find it. Networking is the name of the game for Denise Smith-Farley, but to her it is no game. The foundation upon which her success stems is the vast resource of contacts she has carefully built throughout her career in the Real Estate and Title industries.

Originally from a small town outside Cincinnati, Ohio, Denise grew up an only child. Constant encouragement from her parents to strive for excellence partnered with her own desire to exceed expectations patterned into consistent success for Denise. Contests and competitions resulted in a steady stream of awards in all her endeavors yet victory came not in the thrill of success but in the very fight for success and the tenacious refusal of anything resembling failure. When Denise and her husband moved to San Antonio in 2001 she accepted the transition head on and chose to see it as an opportunity for growth and expansion rather than focusing on the heartache of leaving her family. Already successful as a real estate professional in new home sales, she decided to expand on that knowledge by exploring the Title Industry.

In 2002 Denise partnered with attorney Dan Foster and opened the San Antonio franchised branch of Land America Lawyer’s Title. Always encouraging her employees to be creative problem solvers and contribute to the business, Denise made it a point to work alongside them and to value their suggestions.

“Everyone brings something to the table. It is amazing the answers you get back when you ask the right questions.” The same loyalty she showed them was returned to her when she needed it most.

Relationships are everything to Denise. Establishing, building and maintaining the relationships she has made over the last six years in San Antonio has proven an invaluable resource from which she draws daily. The unique component to Denise is that she is an open book for all who need her. Called upon almost daily for a referral of some kind, Denise is willing to talk openly with strangers who contact her. Given her warm personality and welcoming nature, no one is a stranger for long. With each request for help that befalls her, if she does not hold the answer she likely knows who does. Business associates and clients know that she is willing to share her knowledge and contacts with them in order to help them be successful. Be it a realtor, investor, builder or a future home-owner, she is willing to put the person in need in touch with the right person to help them. Building relationships, sharing knowledge and the constant pursuit of excellence is what defines Denise and it is this image, or brand of sorts, that she wants people think of when they hear her name.

Denise’s creative juices are fed by the multiple projects she is working on at any point in time. Because of her extensive network of contacts, she is able to interact in business arenas aside from Title and Real Estate and often finds fulfillment embedding herself in someone else’s quest for success. Through her ability to help someone else succeed in their endeavors she is allowed to help them from the conception of their idea, its growth via her network and ultimately the fruits of their labor by way of the finished product.

She enjoys the connection she feels with the people she sits across the table from when she is about to give them the keys to their new home. In that 30 minutes she spends with them she becomes a part of the rest of their life and shares in the excitement that she has helped make their dream come true. Hearing of someone in need and not having the capacity to help them challenges Denise most. “Being able to fix something for someone…being able to make the impossible possible is what drives me from day to day.”

Denise knows she is blessed in a multitude of ways. Aside from a network of clients and friends that she cherishes and the loyal staff that works alongside her, she is also fortunate to have not only found a best friend but a husband in David Farley, who is also her Marketing Director. Denise is quick to admit that hiring David was the best decision she ever made and admits that she has truly found in him the perfect combination of friend, husband and business consultant. Denise and David were married this year on April 14, 2007.

It is easy to admire Denise’s fortitude for perseverance and she openly offers a word of advice for young professionals starting out - “Live by the rule that success is not how many people you step on, it is how many people you bring with you.”

If network equates to net worth then Denise Smith has a treasure chest of enviable measure and a grateful spirit worthy of emulation.
