The 10th Annual Official Fiesta event benefits childrenwith developmental disabilities or delays

For eight years, the Lynd Company hassponsored the only Fiesta event on theNorthside, A Taste of the Northside, benefittingBrighton. April will mark the event’s 10thanniversary and there is much to celebrate!

Throughout the years, A Taste of theNorthside has raised more than $960,783 andhelped thousands of families with children whohave disabilities or developmental delays.

The 10th annual A Taste of the Northsideis from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. April 22 at TheClub at Sonterra. All–inclusive tickets are $40in advance and can be purchased online atwww.BrightonSA.org or by visiting any H–E–Blocation. Tickets at the door are $45.

David Lynd, COO of the Lynd Company aSan Antonio Apartment Company, says, “Bybringing an event to the Northside, residentscan be part of the Fiesta tradition, and at thesame time give to a cause that benefits so manyunderprivileged children.”

In addition to being the title sponsor for ATaste of the Northside, The Lynd Companyalso provides rental assistance for low–incomefamilies in the Brighton program. Thisassistance helps families stabilize their financesduring tough times.

Brighton Executive Director Kim Jefferiessays “A Taste of the Northside has come along way in the nine years she has worked forBrighton. The first year we had 500 participantsto over 5,000 last year.” “We are so excited andthankful for the response we’ve received fromthe community,” Jefferies said.

Each year brings more and more revelersto this country club Fiesta event and thisprompted Brighton to move the event to alarger venue, The Club at Sonterra. Althoughthe event is switching locations, the same mixof Northsiders’ favorite restaurants will be therewith delicious samplings of their best dishes.

Volunteers will also serve more than 40different varieties of wine as well as a selectionof staple beers. Music from three live bands,a silent auction, a raffle drawing featuring a LaCantera Shopping Spree, a country club setting,free parking and shuttles and VIP areas makethis the Fiesta event to attend this year.

A Taste of the Northside raises funds thatsupport Brighton’s programs that strive toensure each child with a disability or delayin San Antonio has the opportunity to reachtheir individual potential. More than $500,000is needed from the community each year tosustain the programs and services offeredby Brighton, including early childhoodintervention and parenting programs.

The money raised supports therapy servicesfor babies and toddlers with disabilities in theirhomes, classroom supplies in the inclusive childdevelopment center and adaptive equipment forthe inclusive child development center.
