What does a passionate and visionary leader do to reinvent themselves after they have reached success? They develop ways to define new challenges and reinvigorate themselves by creating new goals. That’s just the case with Frank Herrera and his law firm. For over 25 years, Frank Herrera has been a staple in the San Antonio law field. Today, Herrera guides his law firm with new ambition, talent and aspirations to continue to build its role of justice in San Antonio and nationwide.
The Law Offices of Frank Herrera, founded in 1983, fights for those individuals and companies who have suffered injustice through wrongful causes. With over a quarter of a century of experience in law, Herrera and his newly re-branded firm –The Herrera Law Firm – continue to fight for the underdog as they look forward to the future.
Herrera’s initial goal for his firm was to have the best Latino law office in San Antonio, in the area of litigation. Over the years, Herrera and his attorneys have become respected specialists in personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as civil trial, labor and employment law. Herrera and his team have successfully represented thousands of San Antonio individuals and families who were dealt catastrophic blows in their lifetime. The firm has helped its clients regain their dignity, rebuild their lives and reclaim their financial stability.
Even with all of the success and longevity of the firm, Herrera still manages to stay humble and grateful.
“I define success as having satisfied clients with great results,” Herrera says. “I tell the lawyers here, ‘Look- if your idea is to make a ton of money, then you’re in the wrong place. But, if you treat people right and work hard to ensure they have the best representation possible, then the financial benefits will follow. The rest is a bi-product that comes with the job’.”
As with any successful business, an extraordinary team is needed to define an organization’s capabilities. Herrera’s team consists of attorneys-at-law, Laura Tamez, Leo Figueroa and Herrera’s son, Jorge Herrera.
LAURA TAMEZ
Originally a pre-med major, involvement in civil rights issues led her to pursue a law degree. After graduating from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, she enrolled in St. Mary’s University School of Law. After graduating from St. Mary’s in 1995, Tamez joined The Herrera Law Firm.
LEO FIGUEROA
Leo Figueroa brings an outstanding record and solid expertise to The Herrera Law Firm team. Figueroa joined the Herrera legal team in October of 2003 and now serves as an advocate for plaintiffs in civil trial issues including product liability, wrongful death, breach of contract, identity theft, and business tort cases. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1983.
JORGE HERRERA
Jorge Herrera is making a name for himself in the field of law, while carrying out the values and morals instilled in him by his father. A defining moment in Jorge’s life was watching his father go to trial and winning a million-dollar verdict against some of New York’s best attorneys. It was a powerful moment demonstrating how the law was a mechanism for justice. Jorge is a 2005 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law.
With family involved in the business, many might wonder about the dynamics at the firm between father and son.
“We work very well together and we have an understanding that we fully respect each other’s work and decisions,” Jorge says. “I would describe working under my dad as Tim Duncan coming in to play with the Spurs under David Robinson –He’s seen everything, he’s done everything. I don’t think that there is an aspect of the law that he hasn’t experienced. Learning directly from him has been an absolute key to my practice and my legal career.”
With his younger son Javier in his second year of law school, Herrera is ready to have both sons working with him at the law firm.
“I look forward to the day when all three of us will be in the courtroom on a major case and I’m just sitting in the background, giving my thoughts and suggestions,” says Herrera. “It has been a marvelous experience having both my sons following in my career path and footsteps.”
As The Herrera Law Firm looks toward the future, the philosophy and driving force of the attorneys remains the same- to fight for those who have suffered injustice and to champion the rights of the underdog. It’s evident more than just career ambition drives the firm; it is the genuine compassion to help people.
Figueroa and Tamez agree the firm’s consideration for their clients is what differentiates The Herrera Law Firm.
“We all came from working families and that’s who we represent,” says Figueroa. “This isn’t just a business, it’s a calling. We are called to serve our clients and give them 110 percent.”
“Not only do we have the best when it comes to experience, but when we go to the courtroom on behalf of our clients, we go there to do battle for them as we seek justice for their cause,” says Tamez.
