Eliot Garza, publisher of NSIDE Magazine,took the time out of his busy day, set asidehis male ego and stopped by Facelogic Spain Stone Oak to treat himself to a refreshingtreatment. Being that it was his first trip to a spa,NSIDE decided to document his experience tocatch a glimpse of his softer side.
Garza selected to receive the Peter ThomasRoth Oxygen Facial. The facial is perfect for allskin types because of its ability to improve theoverall health of the skin. People with acne,rosacea, uneven skin tone, and plenty of otherconcerns will benefit from this facial.
The basic steps of the facial are as follows:cleanse, exfoliate, extractions (as necessary),treatment masque, moisturize and protect.Because Garza was a little dehydrated andsunburned from a trip to Miami, the facialistused a gentle AHA Mint Masque to cool andexfoliate his skin. Next, it was extraction time.This is usually the least favorite but mostimportant part of the facial. Extractions arethe manual removal of impurities in the skin.Professional extractions are safe and nothazardous or harmful to the skin, which isgenerally not the case when most try to dothem themselves.
Garza was a trooper, no flinching or anything.Then, the facial massage – an important step inany facial because it stimulates the dermis andhelps circulation, which plays a part in why weglow afterwards.
“We incorporate a lot of massage into ourfacials because we feel it’s just as important torelax and de–stress as it is to take care of yourskin,” Astrid Benitez, Spa Director/Skin CareTherapist said.
Hand, arm, neck, shoulder, and scalpmassages were all pe
rformed in addition tothe facial massage.“It’s basically a full upper body massage,”Benitez said. “My personal favorite part of theOxygen facial is the Radiance OxygenatingMasque. It brightens and evens the skin toneas well as oxygenates the skin with the useof anti–oxidants and leaves skin luminous.Sounds cheesy, but its true!”
The masque goes on the skin as a lightcream and seconds later it turns into a layer offoam on your skin. While the foam builds youexperience a cool tingling sensation.
During this time the neck, shoulder, andscalp massage is performed to allow themasque enough time to effectively penetratethe skin.
“It’s fun to watch because it goes from acream, to a foam, to a bubbly foam that seepsinto the skin and then disappears,” Benitezsaid.
The facial is completed with the applicationof the Radiance Oxygenating Serum and theMax Sheer All Day Moisture Defense.
After his treatment Garza appeared refreshedand left relaxed with healthy, glowing skin. Butwhat did Garza think?“I liked it! I didn’t feel as feminine as I thoughtI would. I felt very secure being it was my firsttime,” Garza said. “Now I’m thinking aboutmanicures.” We’ll believe that when we see it.
