The 12th Annual Don Harris Charity Golf Classic benefiting Family Service Association is presented by The Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation and is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13 at The Club at Sonterra.
Established in December 2006, The Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation helps children’s charitable organizations in the greater San Antonio area. Najim used $75 million of the proceeds from an equity partnership transaction to create the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation.
Recipients of funds include 501(c)(3) public charities that advance children’s education, children’s medical treatment, medical research for illnesses and diseases affecting children, and other children’s charitable purposes.
“For more than 26 years, I have been focused on building and creating a successful business,” said Najim. “This foundation allows me to move from being a successful business leader to becoming a community leader focused on the needs of others. And, as I deliver the grants to these local children’s organizations, I get to witness hopes and dreams turned into reality.
“I know I’m doing the giving, but I can tell you that the children and those providing their care have given back to me gifts that don’t have words to describe them.”
As both chairman and CEO of Sirius Computer Solutions and founder and president of the Najim Family Foundation, Najim is recognized as an esteemed business and community leader and was inducted into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame on March 26, 2009. He has given grants and pledges totaling over $14.6 million to 101 charities.
Now, for the second year in a row, The Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation is the presenting sponsor for the 12th Annual Don Harris Charity Golf Classic. The funds raised at this tournament are used to bridge the critical funding gaps for programs and services provided to over 70,000 clients at Family Service. This inspiring leader believes in the mission of Family Service and helps to bring hope to the children, youth, seniors and families served by this agency.
