Where Business Meets Physicians and Technology

When Rosendo Solis III retired from the military, he knew he could use his specialized expertise to benefit both the private and government sectors. He spent several years gaining valuable experience in private industry before taking the plunge and founding his own company: SDL, Sol–diversified Incorporated.

When choosing a city to start his business, Solis settled on San antonio for some obvious reasons: it has several military bases, and is also home to some of the largest and best medical facilities in the country. The fact that Solis is texas–born didn’t hurt either! “San antonio is really the logical choice,” he shares, “because the federal sector is very well–represented here as well.” In order to create the perfect company, Solis turned to the expertise of several people who represent the very best in their respective fields. “We are a team,” Solis emphasizes. “SDL would not function without these fine professionals and I am so grateful we have partnered together to create what I believe is the best technology company in San antonio.”

So what exactly does SDL do? “If your medical practice, clinic or hospital has It needs, chances are we can help you,” laughs Solis. He goes on to explain that all medical treatment facilities need specialized It services, but either don’t have the resources to hire a person full–time, or don’t require fulltime service. That is where SDL comes into the picture. SDL is the physician’s It person. from installation to maintenance, SDL is a full service company. “our clients know that our highly qualified staff are on call 24 hours a day. They also know that the same technician will be assigned to take care of them, because we go to great lengths to ensure continuity of care. We know how important it is to have someone who really knows their systems work on their equipment. Best of all, our clients know when they call into our office for assistance; they are speaking to someone local. all of our technicians can go to their location very quickly and we guarantee a solution to their problem within 24 to 48 hours.” Solis is also proud of the fact that very often, because of remote access, his It department can solve most client problems immediately, without ever having to go to the client’s location, although they will always do everything necessary to ensure client satisfaction.

SDL is not just a comprehensive medical It company. Solis is a big believer in filling as many niches as possible. That is why dr. darrel Porr is SDL’s Medical director. With 37 years of hospital and clinical practice, dr. Porr is fully capable of assessing the business needs of the medical field. dr. Porr assists in the strategic planning and systems integration necessary for medical practice.

Many new area hospitals and doctors’ practices are seeking SDL’s help before they even open a building. “We come in from the get–go and install the correct cabling, set up wireless configurations, voice data, routers, firewalls and racks,” expounds Solis. although SDL does not sell medical equipment and devices, they will install and integrate them for the practices or the hospital. “We work closely with our client when it comes to procurement, ensuring they buy the right equipment.”

On a different level, SDL helps medical practices protect patient information. With all the media attention on access to medical records and compromised patient information, medical professionals are eager to protect their records. SDL analyzes clients’ systems and offers risk assessment, a threat analysis and provides additional firewalls as necessary. SDL can even provide disaster recovery.

Another way SDL protects their clients is by offering remote hosting and data backup. “Providing these facilities off–site protects the client on several levels, from both physical damage, for example, fire or water damage or from tampering,” says Solis.

Chuck Colley is another important part of SDL with his 30 years in system design, industrial process automation and healthcare clinical and administrative software expertise. He has produced and patented various Medical cotS software packages. SDL realizes that not every client is in a position to buy all new equipment, or they have no intention of moving to another building. These 'legacy’ systems are maintained by SDL, and generally at a much lower cost than the clients incurred previously. for a couple hundred dollars a month SDL will handle all of the client’s It needs.

Solis knew he wanted to focus on more than one sector, and because of his vast experience in the military and his contacts in federal programs he has elected to help the federal sector with their medical staffing needs. In order to facilitate that, SDL turned to the expertise of charles Miffleton and Robert Koors with their intimate understanding of the medical field. Both were natural choices, with 25 years of experience in medical and hospital staffing and management. other key corporate staff include Johnny Garcia, office manager; Ismael Garza, medical It; and Liz Bradden, administrative specialist.

A recent development was the employ– ment of Laura Medina as the head of the newly founded Hospital Billing and collection department. as SDL discovered, a small practice can be overwhelmed with paper work, and tracking down claims, and keeping track of which insurance company has paid what. “We offer peace of mind to our clients by taking over this part of the practice. We are the aspirin that every doctor prescribes for their patients! We remove the stress and headaches of trying to get claims paid,” explains Solis. Medina was another natural choice with her years of experience in healthcare and billing and her extensive knowledge of Revenue optimization Services.

SDL could quite honestly bill itself as a 'one stop shop’ for medical practices and federal sector staffing. “I saw a need, a niche that hadn’t been filled,” this confidence–exuding CEO articulates, “I knew I could make a difference.” And make a difference he has. How many other companies show the customer at the top of their organizational chart? “We honestly believe that here,” says Solis. “Our customer really is what drives us and without them there would be no SDL.”
