When it came to making a life and a living, San Antonio wasn’t the first place to cross Dr. Brian Wilson’s mind. However, since a company with as much promise as Airrosti Rehab Centers is headquartered in San Antonio, the move made a lot more sense..
A graduate of Oklahoma University, Wilson made his way from Norman to Dallas after graduation to earn his chiropractor’s license. After practicing traditional chiropractic for five years, Wilson was ready for a change.
He had kept in touch with a classmate from chiropractic school, Dr. Brent Perry, who had gone on to become one of the founding doctors of Airrosti Rehab Centers. Perry introduced him to Sean Tipton, the president of Airrosti Rehab Centers. One thing led to another, and Wilson took the Southbound 35 trip to learn the unique chiropractic methods being used by Airrosti.
Months later, after extensive training, Wilson found himself at Spectrum Athletic Club at Rogers Ranch operating one of Airrosti’s first fitness club locations in San Antonio. It’s a location he has come to know and love – namely because he has the opportunity to help people on a daily basis.
“It’s an awesome job,” Wilson said. “I get to help athletes return to their sport faster, employees to their job and grandparents back to playing with their grandkids. I’ve told several people [since] I started working for Airrosti this was the first time I’ve ever looked forward to getting up and going to work.”
The Airrosti method of treatment is not likened to the traditional chiropractic methods. Airrosti, or Applied Integration for the Rapid Recovery of Soft Tissue Injuries, is a hands-on diagnosis and treatment model focusing on the realignment of fascial distortions. Through orthopedic testing and a highly specific soft-tissue assessment, Airrosti certified providers identify these fascial problems in the body, alleviate the fascial distortion and subsequently resolve musculoskeletal injuries. Undoubtedly, this allows for a safer, quicker and more lasting recovery.
It is not a new technique, but rather a “best practices treatment model,” and also one that is outcome-based. Most patients are treated and fully recovered within three visits.
“We want our patients back on their feet performing actively as soon as they walk out the office,” Wilson explained. “Everybody feels better when they are resting, which – don’t get me wrong – has its part, but a great way to find out if the treatment works is for the patient to be active. As providers, this gives us more information on how to treat the patient.”
Wilson enjoys being able to help each patient, whether he is returning an athlete to his or her regular workouts or a gardener to his or her oasis in the yard. It is something he truly believes in, and it shows in his work.
He has stories of all kinds to share, of patients young and old. The best are the stories that display the hope and joy of each individual who is helped every day. Wilson feels he has a sense that the treatment he performs at Airrosti is something that positively impacts health and daily living.
“Because we look at injuries differently, we can frequently help to resolve both acute and chronic injuries in a much faster time frame than any other approach,” he said.
Wilson has had injured patients come in on the same day for treatment and be back to their regular lifestyles the following day.
He spreads a message of hope. It is evident in his demeanor and the way he carries himself. It shows in the way he greets his patients and peers. The message is clear in the way he speaks, acts, treats and helps individuals each and every day. He credits his positive attitude to the other providers and doctors who make up Airrosti.
“We all want each other to be successful,” Wilson said. “Airrosti is just one big team, and it makes for an exciting place to work.”
San Antonio may not have been the first place on Wilson’s mind when he considered a career move, but the individuals he serves and will continue to serve couldn’t be happier that he decided to make the move.
