Women’s healthcare in San Antonio recently got bigger and better. Northeast OB/GYN Associates and the Institute For Women’s Health, two of San Antonio’s largest obstetrics and gynecological practices, have joined forces. Consultants in Women’s Health, the resulting entity, is now one of the largest non–hospital based specialty groups in San Antonio.

The goal of the merger was to preserve and improve women’s healthcare, quality and convenience in the Alamo City. Women now have access to more physicians at numerous locations and access to cutting–edge healthcare services.

Consultants in Women’s Health consist of 37 physicians and one nurse practitioner who provide obstetric, gynecologic and fertility care. The practice has 250 total employees and 12 medical offices throughout San Antonio. The physicians will continue to practice out of their existing locations.

“The challenges in the ever–changing landscape of health care made it quite clear that integrating our practices into one would ensure that we can preserve the quality of care our patients deserve and have come to expect from our practices,” said Dr. Kent Sadler, Northeast OB/GYN Associates medical director.

The Institute For Women’s Health was the largest OB/GYN group practice and Northeast OB/Gyn Associates was the second largest in San Antonio. Northeast OB/GYN Associates was founded in 1986 and has three medical offices. The Institute For Women’s Health was founded in May 1996 and has nine medical offices.

Institute For Women’s Health operates the Advanced Fertility Center, a cutting–edge facility that helps couples conceive. If a patient and her partner are having trouble conceiving, physicians can refer her to Dr. Joseph R. Garza, who spearheads the Advanced Fertility Center.

Physicians at Consultants in Women’s Health, specialize and offer many women’s healthcare services, including obstetrics, high–risk pregnancies, urogynecology, robotic surgery, poly cystic ovarian syndrome and menopause management, to name a few. The patient’s health information is stored on the electronic medical records.
