Joshua Senneff, co-host of SA Rising Stars and COO of Plant Interscapes, will team with local business leaders David Smith of NuStar Energy and Brandon Smoot of Wells Fargo Advisors to help the Dominion Rotary Club sponsor local and international charities.
The inaugural year for Chipping for Charity at the Dominion Rotary Golf Tournament was 2009. More than 85 golfers, 25 volunteers and Dominion Rotarians worked together to make the first year a huge success for local children’s homes, wounded warriors, schools, volunteer fire departments and many more charities locally and abroad.
“Most of the success was attributed to our hard-working Rotarians and local business leaders,” says Senneff, the 2009 and 2010 tournament chairman. “Without Rotary and the collaboration of communities, this event would not have been as successful.”
“Last year, we had a number of sponsors jump right in and help,” says Smoot, who is this year’s sponsorship chair. “Supporters like DOCUmation, Plant Interscapes, Mercedes of Boerne, Neuberger Berman, NuStar, Pabst Brewery, Golf Galaxy and Toyota of Boerne were the keys to our financial success.”
Returning sponsors have filled many of this year’s available sponsorship slots, but there are many remaining, according to Smoot. Interested sponsors can visit www.chippingforcharity.com or contact Smoot for more information. If you’re a golfer who’s interested in playing in the tournament, please visit the website to sign up soon, as foursomes are filling quickly.
The Rotary Club of San Antonio was founded in January 2003 and has quickly become one of the premier Rotary clubs in District 5840. The club has a strong emphasis on youth.
Rotarian Darcee Grivel pioneered the Rotary Early Act Program for Rotary International. Grivel says the most important takeaway for her is the benefit to our children.
“We’re trying to keep a link with the children of our communities from start to finish,” Grivel says. “With this continued involvement and close interaction, we will help develop the future leaders of our world.”
Dominion Rotary also has Interact clubs established on a number of local private and public schools. This year, Dominion Rotary strives to do its part in fulfilling the Rotary International 2010-2011 theme: building communities, bridging continents.
